KFE Celebrates 10th Anniversary; Kikkoman Establishes R&D Lab

Over 100 guests from the political, government, business and other arenas attended the successful celebration, including Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven, husband to Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands; former Prime Minister Willem Kok; Ambassador to Japan Alphons Hamer; and Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven.

At a press conference following the party, Kikkoman announced the establishment of the Kikkoman Europe R&D Laboratory B.V. (KEL). This represents the second overseas R&D facility for the Kikkoman Group, following on its previously established laboratory in Singapore. During the conference, Kikkoman also announced that the company intends to continue its support of the Rembrandt House Museum until 2017.

The new R&D facility KEL will be located in the Dutch city of Wageningen, in the area known as “Food Valley,” where many institutes and facilities related to the food industry are situated. It is considered one of Europe’s leading research and information centers in the fields of food and nutrition.

KEL will develop new products focused on the European market by applying resources made available at Food Valley and combining these with Kikkoman's innovative technology.
