Kikkoman's 50th Anniversary Party Held in D.C.
In Washington, D.C. on September 26, 2007, Kikkoman held a special celebration of its 50th anniversary upon entering the U.S. market. The event was held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, located in front of the White House, and was attended by over 200 guests from the business and academic worlds, as well as congressmen from Wisconsin, California and other states.
Kikkoman Chairman and CEO Yuzaburo Mogi gave a speech reflecting upon Kikkoman's 50 years in the U.S. market. Following on his address, Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez offered congratulatory remarks. Speeches were also made by the Governor of Wisconsin, Jim Doyle; Japan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Ryozo Kato; and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson.
Members from both houses attending the party announced that resolutions had been submitted to the House of Representatives and the Senate recognizing Kikkoman's 50 years of operations in the U.S. This kind of resolution is a rare event for U.S. companies, and extremely rare for Japanese ones.
Kikkoman is gratified and pleased that our efforts to realize international exchanges in food culture—including localizing management, contributing to local society and organizing cultural exchange—have thus been acknowledged.
