  • Kinpira is a Japanese cooking style of saute and simmer in soy sauce and sugar.

Directions

  1. Julienne the beef into thick strips and cover lightly with (A) to pre-season.
  2. Julienne the sweet potatoes also into thick sticks, rinse in water and drain.
  3. De-thread the celery, julienne into thick sticks and do the same with the bell pepper as well.
  4. Heat the salad oil in a frypan, add and melt the butter and saute (1).
  5. Add in (2) and saute further, add in (3) and saute, add in the seasonings from (B) and simmer on low heat until the cooking liquid evaporates.

Celery - removing the strings

Strings in celery stalks are tough. Use a knife to pull the strings off starting from the lower half of the stalk. When slicing up thinly or diagonally, you do not need to remove these in advance as you will be cutting through the strings anyway.
