Kikkoman Corporation Selected for the CDP “A List” in Water Security Initiatives

The Kikkoman Group (hereinafter our company) was selected for the highest score, the “A List”, by the CDP (※), an international non-profit organization that evaluates initiatives for water security and related information disclosure.

Under the corporate slogan of “seasoning your life”, we place importance on harmony with nature while conducting our business. The company-wide environmental conservation system was built with a focus on the motto “an abundant environment is necessary for our dietary lifestyle” in our environmental activities .

In the “Kikkoman Group Long-Term Environmental Vision” aiming towards 2030, we recognize that water is a key raw ingredient for our main product, and we set consideration for the water environment as one of our categoric themes. We manage the water usage and wastewater discharge at all our production sites. In addition, we set target values for reducing water usage per unit and have established stricter self-imposed wastewater standards than the legal requirements. This ensures that the wastewater generated from our production activities is purified to the utmost extent possible before being discharged, minimizing impact on the natural environment.

The Kikkoman Group aims to contribute to solving social issues and achieving the SDGs by integrating environmental initiatives into our business activities. Furthermore, we disclose environmental information and engage in local environmental conservation activities, promoting collaboration with our stakeholders.

※ The CDP, headquartered in London, is a non-profit organization whose main activities are to request disclosure of environmental impact countermeasures from companies and public authorities and promote these countermeasures through disclosure.
