Del Monte (Guangzhou) Trading Co., Ltd. (DMG) Sponsors Parent-Child Cooking Contest at Guangdong Vocational School

In May 2025, Del Monte (Guangzhou) Trading Co., Ltd. (DMG), the Kikkoman Group’s sales company for Del Monte processed food products in China, sponsored a cooking contest at the Guangzhou Vocational School of Tourism and Business, located in Guangdong, China, aiming to develop the next generation of culinary professionals and promote shokuiku (food education) at home.

This event was planned by the cooking school and held in a format where students collaborated with their parents to prepare dishes. In addition to the cooking skills competition, students also sold their own culinary creations in a food stall-style setup, making it a lively, schoolwide event. Renowned chefs specializing in Chinese cuisine, Western cuisine, and dim sum were invited as judges, offering professional evaluations of the participants’ dishes.
On the day of the event, more than 300 students and their parents participated, presenting a wide variety of dishes made using Del Monte products such as tomato ketchup and canned peaches. The sight of parents and children working together in the kitchen created a warm atmosphere throughout the venue, highlighting the strengthening of family bonds through food.


One of the event organizers remarked, “Seeing students and their parents cooking together was truly heartwarming — we were able to create a wonderful opportunity.” Participating students also shared comments such as, “Cooking with my parents was a really valuable experience.”

DMG plans to continue collaborating with this cooking school to hold parent-child cooking contests and other competitive-style events at the school every six months. By continuing to provide a space to create delicious memories together, and encouraging aspiring chefs to become familiar with Del Monte products through these contests, this initiative aims to foster the development of the next generation of culinary professionals while also increasing awareness and expanding the market for the Del Monte brand.
