Kikkoman India Private Limited Publishes Promotional Manga

In June 2025, Kikkoman India Private Limited (KID), the Kikkoman Group’s sales company in India, published a manga introducing the various appeals of Kikkoman Soy Sauce, aimed at the over 1.5 million restaurant owners across India. The manga is available in six languages—English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali—and can be viewed on the KID website.

Promotional Manga, “Varun & Pramod” by KID

The publication and release of this manga aim to leverage the popularity of Japanese manga culture in India to raise brand awareness among chefs who are not yet familiar with Kikkoman Soy Sauce, encourage trial use, and communicate its value as a “seasoning that makes Chinese food more delicious.” Marking the first time KID has employed manga as a promotional tool, this initiative represents a unique approach by a Japanese company operating in India.

A member of KID’s marketing team commented, “We created this manga to be enjoyable on its own, even for chefs who are not familiar with Kikkoman. Our top priority is that, by the time they finish reading, the reader becomes curious about the Kikkoman brand. Through this manga, we hope to spark greater interest in Kikkoman among chefs and restaurant owners across India—even if it’s just one.

Moving forward, in addition to our direct distribution, we will share the manga through culinary association mailing lists, various social media platforms, and at cooking schools, in order to create more opportunities for viewing by professionals in the food service industry.

KID will continue to proactively plan and implement promotional initiatives to further raise awareness of the Kikkoman brand and deepen its market penetration in India.

Established in Mumbai, India, in September 2020 as the Kikkoman Group’s import and sales base for the Indian market, KID began full-scale operations in February of the following year. KID is solely responsible for importing all Kikkoman products, and is responsible for managing all production, marketing, sales, and distribution in India.
