A few years ago, I took a train to Ponsacco, a town outside of Florence to visit a friend, someone who I had met in my teens. Having stayed in touch over the years, before I knew it she had become like a distant relative.
During my two-night stay her relatives visited one after another, and we talked about the twenty-five years gone by. I feel that since we met she has spent a lot of time teaching me about family, work, tolerance, and even how I should be as a Japanese person. This photo is of us raising our glasses to celebrate reuniting. I hope to see her again.
