Del Monte Foods (Xiamen) Opening Ceremony
On October 27 of this year, the opening ceremony of Del Monte Foods (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. (DMX) was held in Xiamen, China. DMX is a manufacturing subsidiary of Del Monte Asia Pte. Ltd. (DMA).
The ceremony was held in grand style, and was attended by Kikkoman Chairman and CEO Yuzaburo Mogi, the Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou, Masaharu Yoshida, as well as other officials representing the Chinese government.
DMX President Nigel A. Bath officially welcomed the guests and outlined the background of the establishment of DMX. This was followed by speeches from Mr. Mogi, Mr. Yoshida, and the Deputy Chief of Tong’an District of Xiamen, Yan Tian Huang.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony and a traditional Chinese lion dance performance, attendees were escorted on a plant tour, followed by a luncheon.
As the first Chinese plant for Del Monte, DMX will play a key role in developing its business in this market. DMX has begun production of ketchup, soon to be followed by the re-packaging production of dried fruit. Products made at DMX will be sold widely throughout China, including major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
