Soymilk Flavor Contest in Thailand

October 10, 2023

On October 6th, Kikkoman held final presentations for a contest to develop a new soymilk flavor in Thailand. The contest was organized in collaboration with Kasetsart University, a public research university in Thailand. This was the second time this contest has been held, following last year. The aim is to encourage Thailand’s youth to express their originality and rich creativity through development of new flavors.

This year, under the theme "Flavor of Destination", 18 teams entered the contest with ideas for new flavors of soymilk products related to tourist destinations in Thailand. Among these, 8 teams passed the first round of judging by professors in July. The final round included 3-minute videos introducing the newly created flavors, presentations and tasting of new flavor prototypes by judges. At the award ceremony, the winning team was presented with a monetary prize.

"It was a great experience to have our flavors judged by professors and business persons from various companies," commented one of the participants. The Kikkoman employee in charge of the contest stated, "This was a precious opportunity for us to learn about the taste preferences of Thai consumers. We consider this to be valuable input for future sales and marketing strategies in Thailand.”

Kikkoman began sales of soymilk in Thailand from May 2021. In February 2023, the company newly launched Custard Pudding and Kyoho Grape flavored soymilk in this market. We will continue to promote our soymilk products, aiming to support healthy living for the people of Thailand.
