Del Monte Junior Cooking Workshop in Singapore
Culinary Experience to Spark Younger Generation Interest in Food

September 30, 2024

On June 4th, Del Monte Asia, a Kikkoman group company, held the junior cooking workshop “School Holiday Bootcamp” in Singapore, aiming to increase Del Monte brand fans and promote shokuiku (food education) for younger generations. The workshop was held twice, with 46 participants, ranging in ages from 5 to 16, and their guardians, who used Del Monte products to challenge cooking a variety of dishes while receiving instruction from a culinary professional.

Participants were divided into 2 groups by age, with differing age-appropriate menus designed for each. First session participants, ages 5 to 9 and their guardians, made hamburgers using Del Monte BBQ Dips Sauce and Tomato Dips Sauce, and used Del Monte corn products to recreate the face of a popular character. Second session participants, ages 10 to 16 and their guardians, made a pasta dish using Del Monte canned sardines and desserts (jellies, granitas) using Del Monte mixed fruit and vegetable juice. For tasting, Del Monte soup products, including pumpkin & carrot soup and creamy tomato soup, were offered. In both workshops harmonious collaborations and the strengthening of bonds between the young cooks and their parents as they completed each dish, and fun smiles, were observed.

In a post-event questionnaire, we received positive feedback from participant guardians including, “I truly felt that Del Monte products are delicious and convenient”, and “I had fun with my child”. Through this event, not only were we able to deepen understanding of Del Monte products, but we were also able to convey the joy of cooking to kids and teens. The company employee in charge of planning this workshop commented, “I planned this event with the hope that through this unique experience of cooking with a culinary professional, their summer holidays would be memorable. After receiving rave reviews, we will continue holding these workshops regularly to increase the number of Del Monte fans”.

Del Monte Asia will continue to carry out a variety of initiatives to spark the food interest of younger generations and support healthy eating.
