Del Monte (Guangzhou) Trading Co., Ltd. (DMG) Hosts Cooking Contest at Guangdong Vocational School

In December 2024, Del Monte (Guangzhou) Trading Co., Ltd. (DMG), the Kikkoman Group’s sales company for Del Monte processed food products in China, hosted a cooking contest at the Guangzhou Vocational School of Tourism and Business, located in Guangdong, China, aiming to develop young chefs.

DMG has a strong relationship with this school, and provides Del Monte brand products, mainly tomato ketchup and processed agricultural products, for use in its cooking classes. On this occasion, DMG organized and hosted a cooking contest aiming to inspire student creativity and generate further interest in Del Monte products.
Students in the school’s Chinese and Western Cuisine Culinary Arts Departments participated in the cooking contest featuring Del Monte’s tomato ketchup, canned pineapple and canned yellow peaches. Recipe themes of sweet and sour pork for Chinese cuisine, and Bolognese for Western cuisine, were set for each culinary arts department, and a combined total of 84 students showcased their culinary skills. Students whose parents were also in attendance beamed while commenting, “It was great to be able to demonstrate what I have learned in front of my parents”.



The cooking contest organizer commented, “I was impressed by the sight of the young generation, the future of the restaurant industry, devoting themselves to cooking. There were many dishes displaying creative ingenuity, and I believe it was a highly significant contest.”
Nearly 1,000 students attend this vocational school. By providing our products and organizing cooking contests, we are attempting to foster student product awareness and encourage habitual use. As the experience gained in seasoning usage during a chef’s formative years at culinary school is carried into the future, we believe this approach is an important step in developing chefs who are also Del Monte fans.
DMG strives to develop the next generation of chefs, as well as aim for increased awareness and market expansion of the Del Monte brand, through a variety of marketing initiatives, including the ongoing organization of cooking contests.
