KDB Begins First Production and Export of Kikkoman Products for Peru, Launches Local Sales and Makes Debut at Expoalimentaria

January 8, 2026

In June 2025, KIKKOMAN DO BRASIL INDÚSTRIA E COMÉRCIO DE ALIMENTOS E BEBIDAS LTDA. (KDB), the Kikkoman Group’s soy sauce production base in South America, produced for the first time five products for the Peruvian market - two sizes of Salsa de Soya(soy sauce), Salsa Tare(tare sauce), Salsa de Ostión (oyster sauce) and Salsa Inglesa (Worcestershire-style sauce) exported these from Brazil, and began sales in Peru from September.

In Peru, a leading culinary destination in South America, soy sauce mainly produced locally is already widely used. The country’s food culture has strong affinity with soy sauce, particularly in dishes such as ceviche (marinated seafood), lomo saltado (stir-fried beef and vegetables), and Peruvian-Chinese cuisine. For several years, Kikkoman has been exploring the export of KDB-produced soy sauce and seasonings to Peru. In 2024, this lineup of five products was finalized, and shipments from Brazil began in June 2025, followed by the launch of KDB products in the Peruvian market from September. This marks the first time KDB has produced and exported Kikkoman products tailored to Peruvian taste preferences and language.

Naturally Brewed Kikkoman Soy Sauce on supermarket shelves in Peru

A KDB representative commented: “When I first saw our soy sauce on display at a Peruvian supermarket, I was deeply moved. Peruvian cuisine emphasizes the natural flavors and freshness of ingredients, and locals are accustomed to eating raw fish. For these reasons, we believe Kikkoman Soy Sauce will take on an important role in elevating the taste of Peruvian dishes. Moreover, Peruvian-Chinese cuisine often involves high-heat and quick stir-frying, which is where the aromatic appeal of Kikkoman Soy Sauce truly shines. Through our products, we hope to further enrich Peru’s vibrant food culture.”

In addition, from September 24 to 26 of the same year, we made our first appearance at the Centro de Exposiciones Jockey trade show in Lima to increase awareness of Kikkoman products. This influential Latin American exhibition attracted around 20,000 visitors. At the Kikkoman booth, we offered tastings of four dishes: Pollo Teriyaki (grilled chicken glazed with teriyaki sauce), Salteado de Carne con Salsa de Soya (stir-fried beef with soy sauce), Yakimeshi (Japanese-style fried rice with vegetables and meat or seafood), and Salmón Marinado en Salsa (julienned sashimi-style salmon lightly marinated in soy sauce, then drizzled with tare sauce). In total, approximately 720 samples were served. Many attendees were drawn by the soy sauce aroma emanating from the fry pan, and the lingering umami flavor was especially well received.

Kikkoman will continue to expand sales of our soy sauce and related seasonings, delivering deliciousness to consumers worldwide. Furthermore, we will strive to increase awareness of the Kikkoman brand through opportunities such as this exhibition.
