February 5, 2026
In January 2026, we added a new page titled “Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce Museum” to the Food Culture content section of our English-language corporate website, accessible via the link below:
Teriyaki Sauce Museum - Kikkoman Corporation
Teriyaki sauce is a soy sauce–based seasoning that is loved in many countries around the world. In Japan, the term Teriyaki originally referred to a cooking method in which fish is marinated in a mixture of soy sauce and mirin, then grilled. However, after World War II, Teriyaki evolved in the United States into a style of cuisine where meat is seasoned with soy sauce. In response to this development, Kikkoman began producing Teriyaki sauce for the North American market and launched our product in 1961. Since then, Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce has continued to grow in popularity and is now one of Kikkoman’s core products, second only to soy sauce within the product lineup of our overseas subsidiaries. This new page was created to serve as a comprehensive resource where visitors can explore the history of Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce, its global expansion, and delicious ways to cook with it.
To showcase global dishes made using Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce, as well as past and present advertisements and other historical materials related to Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce, the site features content such as:
