Recognizing the synergies to be gained from promoting the allure of soy sauce and popularizing Japanese dietary culture, Kikkoman entered the Asian food wholesale business, specializing Japanese food, by acquiring a management stake in Japan Foods Corp. (now JFC International, Inc.) of the U.S. in 1969. The JFC Group has expanded its business globally, covering the Europe, Asia, and Oceania regions, under the shared vision “One JFC”.

The JFC Group has a diverse product lineup of over 10,000 items. Besides the Kikkoman brand items produced in Japan and abroad, the JFC Group offers a wide variety of products needed by restaurants and retailers, including seasonings, noodles, alcoholic beverages, seafood, agricultural produce, snacks, and kitchen supplies.
The JFC Group also offers a good selection of its original products, which include rice sold under the Nishiki and Tama-Nishiki brand. Japanese food like sushi became increasingly popular in the United States during the 1980s. Through research and development, the JFC International, Inc. produced Nishiki-brand rice in California, delivering the highest quality Japanese rice to be sold overseas. Nishiki rice became a beloved global brand, which is now produced in Europe as well as the United States.
