Cut the bacon into 1 cm (0.4 in.) widths and split open the snow peas into 2 halves.

Place 1000 ml (33.8 fl. oz.) of water and 1 tsp of salt (extra) into a pot and bring this to a boil. Boil the penne for the specified time. About 2 minutes before finishing boiling add in (1), boil all together and then drain in a colander.

Move (3) to a bowl, add in the soy sauce and (2) while still hot, serve onto plates and sprinkle with a dash of black pepper.

Fold the stem over towards the straighter side of the snow pea and then pull this off along the length of this straighter side to remove the stem and string.
