  1. Peel the new onion and divide into 4 equal-size wedges. Place these onto a heat-safe dish and loosely cover with plastic wrap or an unsealed lid and microwave (600W) for about 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
  2. Arrange onto plates, and sprinkle on soy sauce and katsuobushi before serving.

Peel off the onion skin, cut in half lengthwise, then insert the knife in a v-shape on both sides to remove the stem. Insert the knife from the center of the cut surface and slice into equal-size wedges. This cutting method is used for curry and stew.
