Directions

  1. Cut the beef into 4 cm (1.6 in.) widths, season with a dash of pepper and 1 tsp of the soy sauce.
  2. Slice the onion into 6 to 7 mm (0.5 in.) widths perpendicular to the grain.
  3. Melt half of the butter in a fry pan and cook (1) over medium heat until lightly browned, then remove.
  4. Add in the remaining butter and (2) and saute over medium heat until golden, then return the beef to the pan. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes over low heat. Next, mix in the ketchup and quickly saute all ingredients together.
  5. Add 200 ml (6.7 fl. oz.) of water and the remaining 2 tsp of soy sauce and stir well. Cover with a lid and leave to simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.
  6. Serve (5) with rice and sprinkle on minced parsley if desired.
