Directions
-
De-string the green beans, boil in hot water, then drain and cool in a colander.
-
Place the sliced cheese on the nori seaweed, sprinkle on the bonito flakes, pile (1) on the nearest edge to form a log roll, brush some soy sauce onto the furthest edge and roll up all ingredients tightly.
*If the cheese is too hard to roll, after placing on the nori seaweed, warm on low in a microwave for about 10 seconds. -
After rolling, place the roll end facing down, allow some time for the roll to set, and then cut into easy-to-eat slices.
Cooking Basics
Green beans - draining
After boiling, transfer the green beans to an all-purpose strainer or colander to cool. This process is called "okaage" in Japanese. Placing the green beans in water to cool will cause them to become soggy. This method is recommended for snow peas, broccoli and green asparagus as well.
