Cut the daikon radish into 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick rounds, peel off the skin, then chop into semi-circles. Place into a lidded heat-safe container and microwave (500 W) for 4 minutes.

Heat the vegetable oil in a fry pan over medium heat, add and pan-fry the daikon radish slices from step (1). Make sure to pan-fry both sides equally, then arrange these on a plate.

While still hot, dress with soy sauce and sprinkle on the diced yuzu peel pieces.

For simmered dishes such as broiled daikon or oden (a Japanese dish containing all kinds of ingredients cooked in broth and seasoned with soy sauce), the corners should be chamfered to prevent them from splitting. The aim is to take a knife and trim off the straight edges.
