Divide the onion into thick wedges.

Chop the roots off the Japanese parsley, cut into 3 cm (1.2 in) lengths.

Boil (A) in a pot, add in the onions. After a short while, add in (2) and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat and serve in bowls.
