Divide the broccoli into small florets, and then cut into 1 cm (0.4 in.) widths. Cut the cabbage into rectangular pieces. Cut the ham into squares.

Bring the bonito broth to a boil in a pot. Add in (1) and cook until the vegetables are softened.

Adjust the flavor with the soy sauce and pepper, and thicken with (A). To finish, use a circular motion to add in the beaten egg.
