Directions

  1. Sprinkle the yam cake with a dash of salt (not included in ingredients), pound with a rolling pin and then quickly rinse.
  2. Slice a crisscross pattern into both sides, cut into 2 cm (0.8 in.) cubes then cook from cold water to remove bitterness.
  3. Place the sesame oil into a small pot and saute (2) well. Once the surfaces are browned, add in the red chili pepper, soy sauce and mirin and coat each cube with the seasonings.
