Tomato Cheese Mochi

A marvelous melt of mochi and cheese.

4 blocks (200 g / 7.1 oz. )

150 g (5.3 oz.)




1/2 cup (60 g / 2.1 oz.)

300 g or 10.6 oz.

  1. Divide 1 block on mochi into 8 equal portions. Chop up the cabbage, cut the sausage into bite-size pieces, and the green pepper into 5 mm (0.2 in.) wide rings.
  2. Into a fry pan and in order, add the cabbage, then the onion, pour on the tomato sauce, and sprinkle with the salt. Next add in the cut mochi, sausages, and finally scatter on the cheese.
  3. Cover and place over medium heat. Once bubbling, leave to steam-cook for 10-15 minutes.

Cooking Basics

Cabbage - roughly chopped

Separate the leaves, place the knife diagonally along the core to remove. Cut the leaves in half lengthwise, stack, and then cut into 3 - 4 cm (1.2 to 1.6 in.) wide strips.

Green peppers - removing seeds

Cut the pepper in half, fold the stem and then remove the seeds with your fingers. This is an easier and less wasteful method than using a knife.
