Fava Bean Soup

800 g (28.2 oz.)


700 ml (23.7 fl. oz.)

  1. Mix (A) together in a pot and bring to a boil to prepare the soup base.
  2. Remove the fava beans from pods and boil in water with a little salt added, then remove the skins. Place into a food processor with a small amount of (A) and mix until smooth. Pour into the pot (1) and bring to a quick boil.
  3. Serve into bowls and sprinkle with kinome if on hand.

Broad beans - removing from pod

Split the pod open at the seam and remove the beans inside.

Broad beans - making a slit

If removal of the thin skin is not required, such as when lightly boiling in salt water to prepare, cut a slit into the middle line. Doing so will allow for faster cooking and also make the thin skin easier to peel away prior to eating.
