Rinse and dry the mackerel, slice thin openings in the meat, run over with hot water in a strainer.

Thinly slice the ginger, cut the long onion into 3 cm (1.2 in) pieces.

Mix (A) in a fry pan and heat. Once it begins to boil, add (1),(2) and red peppers. Cover the pan well in aluminum foil, boil 7-8 min. over medium heat while occasionally stirring the broth. After dissolving miso in the broth, continue to boil for another 7-8 min.
