Beef Watercress Rolls

Fresh watercress wrapped in succulent fried beef in a bittersweet soy sauce.

250 g (8.8 oz)

100 g (3.5 oz)

  1. Divide the beef in half. Spread out 1 half vertically. Then a little at a time, flatten horizontally.
  2. Divide the watercress into 4 equal sections. Place 1/4 on top of (1) with the leaf tips point horizontally right. Place another 1/4 on top with the leaf tips pointing left.
  3. Holding the nearest part of the beef from (2), roll away from you tightly. Do the same for one more roll.
  4. Completely cover both rolls in flour. Heat cooking oil in a fry pan. Fry the rolls while rolling back and forth.
  5. Wipe away any remaining cooking oil. Mix together (A) and pour in and simmer the rolls making sure to mix them well with the sauce. Remove, cut into edible size pieces and serve.
