Rehydrate the kombu in the 150 ml (5.1 fl. oz.) of water (both from A). Once softened, cut into 5 mm (0.2 in.) squares. Set aside the rehydrating water for use in step 2.

Pour (1) and (B) into a pot and simmer for 5 minutes. Add in the soybeans and soy sauce and simmer for a further 5 minutes.
