Asparagus and Potato in Melted Cheese

A time-saving recipe using a microwave and toaster oven.

20 g (.7 oz.)


  1. Remove any tough part of asparagus then cut into 3 cm (1 1/4 in.)-lengths.
  2. Peel potato and cut into 8 pieces, then quickly rinse. Drizzle with soy sauce.
  3. Place asparagus and potato in separate microwaveable containers and cook in microwave for 1 min at 500 W.
  4. Remove asparagus then cook potato for 2 more min. Shake potato container to form small starch balls on surface of potato.
  5. Put asparagus and potato in another microwaveable container, cover with cheese and cook for 3-4 min.

The skin from the root to about 1/3 to 1/2 way up the asparagus spear is hard, so use a peeler to remove this. Use a peeler rather than a knife to achieve thin and even peeling.
